IDA's Company Safety and Health Manual Updated and Online for Download

The Company Safety and Health Manual is published by the IDA as a service to members. The information contained in this manual has been reviewed by IDA and Safran Law Offices in August 2016, and is furnished as a template for members to utilize and supplement as appropriate for their individual needs.

A new feature of the manual is that it can be customized for an individual company.

The Manual is not offered or intended as legal advice. Many of the items included in this manual are URLs to government websites, and those links have been updated with this most recent review.

Members should review the contents of the Manual carefully, and determine whether any of the materials are or are not appropriate for their particular business needs. If you have any legal questions or concerns, you should consult an attorney licensed in your jurisdiction.

IDA to Host Regional Meetings in Charlotte, Houston, and Minneapolis

IDA will host three regional meetings between now and May 2017 in Charlotte, NC (November 11-12, 2016), Houston, TX (February 2017) and Minneapolis, MN (May 2017). On each agenda is one day of educational programming and a half day of IDEA accreditation and certification testing.

The purpose of the meetings is to bring IDA education and IDEA testing to areas of the US where there is a large population of door and access systems dealers, but no affiliated organization to provide programming. Another goal is to create excitement for the 2017 IDAExpo in Atlanta from April 19 – 22.

For registration information visit the IDA website (www.doors.org) and click the tab Expo & Events.

If Hiring Good People is One of Your Concerns

The Center for America is a non-profit group that promotes free enterprise, and is working with funding from the founder of Home Depot to create a job bank to help military veterans find employment after their service.  A goal of the group is to help smaller employers hire more veterans by giving them the educational and networking tools to make it easier to do so.  Click here to view the process for registering with the Center for America and for submitting jobs to its website.  Other guides can be accessed here that discuss Federal Tax Benefits for hiring and employing veterans and a best practices guide for employers in recruiting and hiring.

Young Professionals Network for Those in Your Company 35 and Under

IDA has formed a YOUNG PROFESSIONALS NETWORK (YPN) for those who go beyond the norm in their career and in their community.  We are looking for YPs in the door and access systems industry – both dealers and in manufacturing/distributing -- who are between the ages of 21 and 35 years old.

YPs will be a sounding board for new ideas and programs of the association.  They may be invited to attend special meetings and workshops.  They will receive recognition in the industry magazine, International Door & Operator Industry, and they will be invited to take part in special programs for Young Professionals at the IDAExpo.

Nominations for the YPN will be accepted year round.  They may be nominated by members or they may be self-nominated.  They can work in any aspect of the door and access systems industry; they are members of the group that will lead all aspects of the industry in the future.  You may nominate more than one individual for this recognition.  Use the form attached here to nominate your future leaders.
